Introduction
This Portfolio was designed to showcase the growth and improvements I have made as a writer while taking the Writing For The Social Sciences ENGL 21002 course. I am a Sophomore at The City College Of New York. In this Portfolio, you will find various drafts, essays, and notes taken before the revised pieces of work were submitted.
My Experience As a Writer
Writing is not something someone is good at from the start. It takes a lot of trial and error to learn from your mistakes. In the past, I would turn in writing assignments without revising them to push them out of the way but this course has really made me appreciate the significance of being an editor while writing. Editing your work is as equal to or greater than writing everything down first. I like to think of it as the Yin & Yang of writing. To have a great piece of paper in front of you, you must be balanced in creating and editing your piece. One cannot work without the other. This is what I interpreted from this course even if it wasn’t directly said the way I put it. Overall, I believe I have learned and grown so much as a writer while taking this course. I will apply everything I have gained to future writing assignments I may have in the future.
